Digitalization Youth Enablement 2024 • Uganda

Voucher-based community internet access piloted across a residential neighborhood and a farmers market in Uganda.

More

Piloted voucher-based public Wi-Fi across one residential neighborhood around our property and one local farmers market in Uganda.

High cellular data costs force most individuals offline for weeks, cutting them off from modern information tools.

Problem-solving is crippled when an individual's only source of knowledge is an uncle from the village rather than Google.

Lack of access to global knowledge blocks capable, ambitious minds from learning independently and building scalable systems.

Demonstrated that expanding low-cost public Wi-Fi is essential to make internet access permanently affordable across emerging markets.

Concluded physical network operations due to high capital requirements, continuing the thesis by investing in Dabba to scale decentralized connectivity.

Web3 Sub-Saharan Africa

A low-cost Web3 incentive protocol and gamified savings system designed to end child marriage, keep girls in school, and encourage parents to invest in their daughters.

More

The Problem: Extreme poverty, cultural taboos, limited access to education, and lack of family planning cause child marriages and teenage pregnancies to continue. Severe financial pressure often forces families to see early marriage as a relief from household costs.

The Goal: Address child marriage directly by creating incentives for parents to invest in their daughters. Girls can only reach their full potential when they stay in school, complete their education, and avoid early marriage.

The Innovation: Web3 technology fundamentally enables programmable incentive structures and behavioral gamification. The protocol uses gamified milestones to restructure economic incentives, proving that the girl child is highly valuable when kept in school. Capital unlocks only after the girl completes secondary education. Recurring gamified rewards attach to verifiable conditions like family planning adherence and spreading peer knowledge.

Societal Impact: By tying rewards to educational completion, family planning, and milestone savings, the protocol demonstrates the tangible value of the girl child. This encourages families and communities to protect and fund her future.

Collaboration: The project is parked. We welcome collaboration with research institutes, non-governmental organizations, and community partners.
